View Menu Customization

Mylio allows for customization in Decade view, Year view, and Day view. There are no View customizations in Month view.

1. Sort Ascending – Sorts your photos with the newest date at the bottom.
2. Sort Descending – Sorts your photos with the newest date at the top.
3. Start Slideshow – Starts a slideshow with the photos currently being viewed.

Calendar View Customizations

Mylio also allows for general customization of your Life Calendar. Here is how:

1. Open Mylio and select Settings from the View menu.
2. Select Calendar
3. Options include…
   1. Feature Photo Ranking – here you can see, and change, the heuristics of how Mylio decides what photos should be featured at covers of your Life Calendar.
   2. Number of event bars to display – how many events should be shown on the cover of your image
   3. Hide events longer than – if an event is above a specified threshold, it won’t be shown on the calendar. This is customizable for Decade, Year, and Month view.

Categories Customizations

Mylio allows you to easily customize your categories to different colors, names, or order. You can use the Filterbar while in Calendar view to show/hide any events of specific categories too.

1. Select Settings from the View menu.
2. Select General.
3. Select Categories begin editing your Event Categories
   • Make new Categories using the Add New button
   • Remove any unwanted ones using the “X” to the right
   • Use the handles on the left to prioritize the order of categories
   • Click on the text of existing category names to edit them.

Sometimes, a Mylio Support team member may request a specific set of screenshots. Providing an informative screenshot can cut the diagnostic time for your issue down drastically, but it must be done in a very specific manner. Here is how:

1. Open Mylio on a computer.
2. Bring as many devices online as possible by opening Mylio on them while they’re on the same network.
3. Navigate to Mylio’s Settings from the View menu.
4. Select Advances, then toggle on Sync Panel.
5. Open the Sync panel by selecting “Sync” from within the Details panel.
   
     Note:   The Sync panel can be turned on by entering the Device Settings, selecting Advanced Settings, and toggling on the Sync Panel option.
6. Ensure that both the Devices and Activity sections of the Sync panel are open and visible.
7.  With the Sync panel open, click on folders twice in the View Selector. Clicking this twice will take you to the top level of your library and ensure that nothing is selected.
8. The Sync panel will now display information about your full library instead of a specific selection. This will tell us where your images are and where they need to go.
9. To take a screenshot on Mac, press Command+shift+3 to have the image saved to your desktop. That image can then be emailed to your support member.
10. To take a screenshot on Windows, press Control+PrtScn, open the Paint application and paste (Control+v) the image. You can then save the image and email it your support member.

Some advanced troubleshooting may need to be done when contacting Mylio Support. If asked by a support team member to send “Full Logs”, here is how you do it:

1. Open the View Menu  (3 vertical dots in the top0right corner), then select `Help`, then `Console`.
2. In the top right corner of the Console is a tiny gear icon. Click on this gear to open the Logging Settings. Take note of where they are currently set to and then move both sliders for ETM and Text logging all the way to the right. This will “increase the logging level” that Mylio records.
3. Let Mylio run while reproducing the issue. Once your devices have reached a point where no more progress is being made in the Notificatons and Activities center send the logs from the computer.
4. To send us logs, open the View menu again, then select “Help”, then “Contact Support”. Type in a title and hit upload.
5. After sending us the logs, go to the Console Settings (little gear icon) and move the sliders back to their normal levels.

Setting Up Linked Calendars

1. Open Mylio and select Settings from the View menu
   
2. Select Linked Calendars
3. Mylio will show you the calendars that are available to import on your device.
   
     Note:  Mylio must have access to your calendars to display this information. If access is not granted, please see the “Changing Access to Calendars” section of this page.
4. Once displayed, you can toggle a calendar ON or OFF here. You also have additional settings…
   1. Nickname – Give your calendar a nickname in Mylio for easy viewing.
   2. Show More Options – show additional options related to calendar import.
      1. Ignore Events Containing – this section allows you to type in words that you would like Mylio to avoid when importing your calendar. This can help keep things tidy so that doctors’ appointments and deliveries are not imported.
      2. Import Events if Mylio has Media – only import events that have media taken during that day or time period.
      3. With duration at least… – set a minimum time limit for event duration.

Removing Calendars from Mylio

If you would like to remove a Linked Calendar, you can do so by:

1. Open Mylio and select Settings from the View menu.
   
2. Select Linked Calendars to see a list of available calendars.
3. Turn off any calendar you do not wish to see in Mylio.
   

Changing Access to Calendars in Mylio

Changing Access on iOS

1. Open the Settings app on your iOS device
2. Select Privacy
3. Select Calendars
4. Locate Mylio in the list of apps that have requested access to your Calendars. Toggle it on or off.

Changing Access on Android

1. Open your device’s Settings app or menu.
2. Select Apps or apps & Notifications
3. Select Mylio
4. Select Permissions
5. Toggle Calendar on or off.

Changing Access on Mac

1. Select the Apple menu in the top left of the screen
2. Select System Preferences
3. Select Security and Privacy
4. Select Calendars
5. Toggle Mylio on or off.

If Mylio is not prompting macOS for permission to access the calendar in macOS System Preferences please verify that Mylio is installed correctly. If the Mylio app has not been placed in the Applications folder then it can not request access for your calendar. If the issue persists, please contact Mylio Support via the in-app Help menu.

If the issue persists, quit Mylio and open Terminal on your mac. Terminal can be found in the Utilities folder inside Applications or you can search for it in Spotlight.
In Terminal, enter the phrase tccutil reset Calendar mylollc.Mylio and hit return. If run successfully, Terminal will say “Successfully reset Calendar approval status for mylollc.Mylio”. Re-open Mylio and select the View menu (three vertical dots), then Settings->Linked Calendar.

A macOS prompt will open asking you to allow “Mylio.app” to access your calendar. Select “OK”. You should now be able to import your Calendar to Mylio.

1. Connect your Seagate drive to a computer and open the “Start_Here” file to take you to Seagate’s website to register your drive and claim any eligible offers.
2. Once you have claimed the Mylio Create offer, you will be taken to Mylio’s website to download and install Mylio.
3. Copy the unique, time-sensitive code and click the Download button.
4. Once downloaded, open the setup file to install Mylio. If you are not sure how to install Mylio, please see this guide for more assistance. 
   
5. Once installed, open the Mylio app to the sign-in screen and click on the “Have an Activation Code?” text.
6. Paste or type in your unique code and create an account by entering a valid email and password or by using one of the third-party sign-in options to the left.
   

1. Connect your Seagate drive to a computer and open the “Start_Here” file to take you to Seagate’s website to register your drive and claim any eligible offers.
2. Once you have claimed the Mylio Create offer, you will be taken to Mylio’s website to download and install Mylio.
3. Copy the unique, time-sensitive code.
   
4. If you are already signed into the Mylio application with a Free account you do not need to download anything else
5. Instead, please go to account.mylio.com and sign-in.
6. On the next page, click the “Claim” button to enter your activation code.
   

Adding Photos From Your Computer

Mylio will display the option to scan and drives in your computer or let you manually choose your folder to add. By selecting the “BEGIN” button in the center, Mylio will search the selected drive(s) for any folder containing media that can be imported. You can then select which of these you would like to see in Mylio. By selecting “Manually Locate Files”, Mylio will open a file browser and let you point to a specific folder to add.

Once you have selected the Folders to add, you can complete your setup with a confirmation screen explaining how many files and folders will be added into your Mylio library.

Adding Photos From an External Drive

Once you have selected that you would like to add photos, videos, and files from an external drive, Mylio will display a list of drives that are currently attached to your machine. If the correct drive is not seen, be sure to plug it in now, select it from the list, and click the “BEGIN” button in the middle of the screen. Mylio will scan the selected drive and show you what folders on the drive it detected with media it can import.

You have two options when adding information from an external drive:

1. Leave my files where they are – this option will add the photos on the external drive to Mylio without having to copy the original files off the drive. This option is ideal for drives that are still in use and plugged in with semi-regularity.
2. Copy my files from somewhere else – this option will copy the data from the external drive to a destination of your choosing. This is a great option if you have one or more external drives and you’re trying to consolidate to one larger drive or one computer.
   

If you choose to copy your files, Mylio will ask you where you want the files to go. Select between copying the files to a second external drive, to your computer’s internal drive, or a cloud service. You can alternatively choose to “add a device to store originals later”. This will temporarily copy the photos to your computer until a device on the account that is set to store all the Originals (a Vault). See this article to learn more about syncing and Vaults.

Adding Photos From an Online Account

If your photos are stored in an online account like Google Photos, Facebook, or Flickr, Mylio can download them and add them to your library. Once you have selected Online Services as your source, choose which service you would like to add to Mylio and sign in.

Once signed in, Mylio will display what albums are available to download from Google, Facebook, or Flickr. Select your desired albums and press “Continue”.

Mylio will ask you where you want the files to go. Select between copying the files to an external drive, to your computer’s internal drive, or a cloud service. You can alternatively choose to “add a device to store originals later”. This will temporarily copy the photos to your computer until a device on the account that is set to store all the Originals (a Vault). See this article to learn more about syncing and Vaults.

You will be presented with a confirmation screen to verify your setup. Click Confirm Setup to continue to the last part of the setup wizard or start over.

Tag Detected Faces

1. Pull up a photo in Single Photo view.
2. Toggle Face Recognition on by selecting the face recognition icon in the Quick Actions Bar.
   
3. If Mylio detects a face, it will ask you to identify who is in the photo. You can do this by selecting the recommended name, or by pressing the corresponding number on your keyboard. If you have never tagged a face before or do not see the name of the person you want to tag, click on the “Who is this?” text and enter a name.
   
4. If multiple faces are detected, Mylio will recommend names for each face one at a time. By adding the first face, Mylio will advance to the next face automatically.
5. If Mylio detects a face that you do not want to name, or detects something that is not a face, you can select Ignore to move past the selection.
6. Once a photo has been tagged, it will be added to the custom album within People view for that person.

Tag Undetected Faces

In some cases, Mylio may not appropriately find all faces in a photo. This is especially true if a photo is at an angle, has insufficient (or too much lighting), or a face is partially obscured. In these cases, you can manually tell Mylio where a face is on a photo.

1. Pull up a photo in Single Photo view.
2. Toggle Face Recognition on by selecting the face recognition icon in the Quick Actions Bar.
3. Locate the face that is not appropriately recognized by Mylio.
4. Click and hold, or tap and hold, on the unrecognized face until a square “Who is this?” dialog is opened.
5. Add the name to the dialog.
     Note:  manually adding a face tag in Mylio does not increase the match rate for that specific person.
   
   
     Note:  face tags added manually are not saved to a photo’s metadata in a way that will transfer to other applications that support face tagging.

Mylio will scan photos automatically and group them within People view. This allows you to quickly identify if a person is, or is not, who Mylio believes they are.

Tagging Proposed Faces in Bulk

If Mylio knows who someone is, they will have an album created for them in People view. Once Mylio knows the name and face of a person, it will scan each photo to see if it has a match as you browse through your images. If Mylio finds a match, the person’s album in People view will ask you to confirm if the photo is, or is not, that person. Albums that have photos that need to be identified will have an “identification needed” icon in the top left of the album.

When a Person’s album with the identification needed icon is opened, any photo that is not yet confirmed will display three options at the bottom of the image: confirm, change, and deny. These icons let you confirm that the person in that individual photo is correct, change the image to a different person, or tell Mylio that this image is not this person. Confirming a person will remove the icons and let Mylio use the image to better identify more images of that person.

Batch Tagging In Any View

Mylio allows you to easily tag the faces in any container in bulk. This can be done from folder view, album view, or calendar view. Here is how:

1. Open Mylio and navigate to a folder, album, or another container you wish to tag. This can even be from All Photos.
2. Open the container so that it displays a grid of photos as seen below. If you are not in a grid view of photos then the batch tagging icon will not appear (IE, you are viewing a collection of albums or folders you will need to go into a folder or album to view it’s photos in a grid).
3. Select the Batch Tagging icon from the Quick Actions Bar.

Mylio will group your photos and begin to ask who each person is. You can use the bar at the top of Mylio to make a decision for all collected photos, or you can decide on each photo individually using the confirm, change, or deny buttons on the person’s image.

Bulk Ignore Untagged Faces

In some cases, you may have photos with many faces that all need ignored. This is common in pictures of crowds like concerts, races, or other public events. Mylio makes it easy to tag who you know and ignore all other faces.

1. Locate the photo with multiple people who need to be ignored.
2. Tag the people who you do know before bulk-ignoring.
3. Open Mylio’s Details panel and select Ignore Untagged Faces from the top of the info pane.

Mylio’s Desktop Interface

• Actions – Shows of a series of actions that you can take on your current selection. This includes selecting, moving, deleting, and adding to an album.
• Add New Folder – In folder view, you can use this button to create new folders for your photos. In Album view, this creates new albums.
• Dashboard – See more information about your Devices, tagged People, and other customizable statistical views.
• Delete – Delete a photo from Mylio and the file system on all devices.
• Details panel – Mylio’s Details panel allows you to view and change details about your selection in the Info tab, view/add location data in the Map, and edit photos with Edit.
• Filter –Sort your currently viewed folder or album with custom criteria.
• Import – Opens the import menu and allows you to import from your machine, Facebook, Flickr, cameras, SD cards, and more.
• Info – Detailed metadata about your images. Edit keywords, captions, title, and copyright information. (Dependent on Details panel Change)
• Map – View location data or assign a new location to a photo or set of photos.
• Navigate back– Go backward to the previous folder, album or image you were looking at.
• Notifications & Activity center – Click to see when devices need to be synced, updated, or checked. It also tracks the progress of currently running tasks.
• People – Tag the people in a photo to separate them into automatic folders in People view.
• Progress – If Mylio is working on something, you can see what it is here. Syncing, updating, face tagging… they’ll all be listed here.
• Rotate left– Rotate the currently selected image left. These commands will only be present when a photo is selected.
• Search – Search through your photos and folders to find the perfect memory.
• Share/Export – Share your selected media to email, Flickr, Facebook, or to a printer.
• Show Mylio Clipboard – Opens the Mylio Clipboard, which allows for a temporary storage space while moving photos around in Mylio.
• Sync Status –  At a glance, shows you how much media is waiting to sync to the device you are on and to your Vaults.
• Toggle Details panel – Opens and closes the Details panel.
• Toggle Face Tag/Batch Tag –Use Mylio’s face detection software to quickly find the people that matter most in your library.
• Toggle Rating bar – The Rating Bar allows for you to easily tag photos with star ratings, color labels, and flags. You can even pin your “Photo of the Day”. 
• View menu – Alter the view settings for your library and see additional settings.
• Your Images – The main view in Mylio. This section is always open and displaying your memories front and center.

Mylio’s Mobile Interface

• Sync: Mylio keeps all your devices in sync with the same photos, information, and organization. Syncing ensures that new photos added to one device are available on your other devices along with edits, metadata, and organizational structure.
• Folders: Folders are one of the main ways to organize in Mylio. Folders allow you to directly manage your files inside and outside of Mylio. To create a new folder, go to Folders view and click the Add New button  near the top right.
• Import: Importing adds photos to your Mylio library. There are multiple ways to import. One of the most common is to use the Import button  in the top right. Choose whether to Copy photos (from your current device) or import photos from other sources. For other ways to import, see these articles.
• Vault: A Vault is Mylio’s term for a device that holds all your originals. Common Vaults include computers, external drives, NAS devices, and online services like Amazon or Google Drive. Click here to add a NAS or USB vault, or click one of these links to add Amazon and Google Drive.
• All Photos: This is the first view in the navigation bar and shows – surprise, surprise – all your photos.
• Calendar view: Mylio’s default view which displays your photos on a calendar in combination with events from your life. Access it in the Navigation bar at the top of the Mylio interface.  
• Map view: The Map view organizes photos by location on a world map. Most cameras and smartphones record GPS data, which Mylio uses to geotag photos automatically. You can also manually position a photo by dragging it to the correct spot on the map.
• People view: People view helps you automatically organize photos of family and friends. As you start tagging the people in your photos, Mylio will help you tag them in all future photos and display them in a container.
• Album view: This is where you can create and view custom albums. Albums are a secondary way to group and organize photos. Access it in the Navigation bar at the top of the Mylio interface.
• Folder view: Folder view shows how your files are organized. This includes the Mylio Pictures folder and any source folders you decide to add. Access it in the Navigation bar. 
• Dashboard: The Dashboard lets you view detailed information about your library, including devices, people, places, cameras, and keywords. Access it using the Dashboard icon  in the top right.
• Details panel: This panel allows you to access the Info, Edit, Map and Sync panels. You can show and hide the Details panel by clicking the double arrow icon  in the top right of the Mylio interface.
• Info tab: The Info tab lets you view and manage information about your photos. This includes the title, captions, date, keywords, categories, location, and other metadata. Access it by going to the Details panel on the right and clicking Info.
• Edit tab: The Edit tab lets you edit photos, including presets, red-eye reduction, sliders, and more. Access it by opening the Details panel  and clicking Edit.
• Quick Actions bar: A section of the Mylio UI that changes dynamically with icons for quick actions a user can take like cropping, export, tagging, deleting, etc. The contents of the “Quick Actions Bar” change based on the selected view.
• Notifications: Notifications let you know when devices need to be synced, updated, or checked. To access notifications, click on the Notification & Activity Center  in the top right corner of the screen.
• Navigate Back: Move from a sub-level of Mylio to the level above (for example, from a sub-folder to its parent folder) using the back arrow  in the top left corner of the Mylio interface
• Actions menu: This menu provides common actions in each view. Access it using the three horizontal dots  in the bottom right of the Mylio interface. 

Core Concepts

• Mylio Library: The sum total of all your media, organization, edits and other metadata that is viewable from your connected devices in Mylio.
• Device: This term refers to any hardware for viewing or storing your Mylio library, including computers, phones, tablets, clouds, and drives.
• Sync: Mylio keeps all your devices up-to-date with the same photos, information, and organization. Syncing ensures that new photos added to one device are available on your other devices along with edits, metadata, and organizational structure.
• Folders: Folders are one of the main ways to organize in Mylio. Folders allow you to directly manage your files inside and outside of Mylio. To create a new folder, go to Folders view and click the Add New  button.
• Import: Importing adds photos to your Mylio library. There are multiple ways to import. One of the most common is to use the Import button  in the top right. Choose whether to Copy photos (from your current device) or import photos from other sources. For other ways to import, see these articles.
• Export: This feature allows you to export images that are part of your Mylio library. Select the image, folder, or album you want to export, then click the share icon  from the Quick Actions bar, and choose Export.
• Photo sizes:
  • Thumbnail: A small version of your photo (20kb to 30kb) that is ideal for mobile devices since it doesn’t take up much storage space. Does not allow editing. 
  • Preview: High quality (approximately 1mb) that gives an accurate representation of your photos at a fraction of the space. Ideal for laptops or any device with sufficient storage. Fully editable. 
  • Original: Your full quality file (original size)  in its native format, including RAW files. Fully editable. 
• Source folder: A source is an active folder that Mylio monitors for changes. If you add a source folder, Mylio watches it in your file system without moving it from its original location. If you add photos to a Source Folder using your filesystem, the Mylio app will automatically import the new additions.
• Protection: Mylio protects your Mylio library by helping you create Vaults, which are additional storage for original files and catalog information. This protection allows you to recover your Mylio library and media files in the event that one of your devices is damaged or lost.
• Vault: A Vault is Mylio’s term for a device that holds all your originals. Common Vaults include computers, external drives, NAS devices, and online services like Amazon or Google Drive. Click here to add a NAS or USB vault, or here to add Amazon and Google Drive.

Viewing Photos

• All Photos: This is the first view in the navigation bar and shows – surprise, surprise – all your photos.

• People view: People view helps you automatically organize photos of family and friends. As you start tagging the people in your photos, Mylio will help you tag them in all future photos and display them in a container.
• Album view: This is where you can create and view custom albums. Albums are a secondary way to group and organize photos. Access it in the Navigation bar at the top of the Mylio interface.
  • Albums: Albums are a Mylio specific way to organize your photos that’s only seen in the application. While every image must be in a folder, Albums give you the freedom to organize any way you want. Photos can be in multiple Albums or none at all.
• Folder view: Folder view shows how your files are organized. This includes the Mylio Pictures folder and any source folders you decide to add. Access it in the Navigation bar. 
• View menu: The View menu allows you to adjust how your photos look in Mylio. To access it, click the View menu icon  in the top right corner of the Mylio interface.
  • Grid style: This feature allows you to change how your photos are displayed in Mylio. Access it using the View menu  in the top right, and click on Grid Style. From there you can choose between square, tile, and fluid. 
• Grid view: This refers to anytime multiple photos are displayed in a grid in the Mylio interface.
• Single Photo view: When you view one photo at a time in the Mylio interface.

Navigating Mylio

• Dashboard: The Dashboard lets you view detailed information about your Mylio library, including devices, people, places, cameras, and keywords. Access it using the Dashboard icon  in the top right.
• Details panel: This panel allows you to access the Info, Edit, and Map tabs. You can show and hide the Details panel by clicking the double arrow icon  in the top right of the Mylio interface.
  • Info tab: The Info tab lets you view and manage information about your photos. This includes the title, captions, date, keywords, categories, location, and other metadata.
  • Map tab: The Map tab is a section of the Details panel that allows you to place photos on the map.
  • Edit tab: The Edit tab lets you edit photos, including presets, red-eye reduction, sliders, and more.
• Quick Actions bar: A section of Mylio that changes dynamically with icons for quick actions a user can take like cropping, export, tagging, deleting, etc. The contents of the Quick Actions bar change based on the selected view.
• Search bar: The search menu allows you to strategically search for photos by typing in keywords. Access it by clicking the search magnifying glass  in the top left corner of the Mylio interface.
• Filter: Filtering is a way to set criteria in Mylio that narrows which photos are displayed in any view. Access it by clicking the funnel icon  in the top left corner of the Mylio interface.
• Activity: This section keeps track of ongoing processes like scanning, importing, and exporting. Access it in the Notifications & Activity Center  in the top right of the Mylio interface.
• Notifications: Notifications let you know important information about your Mylio setup. To access notifications, click on the Notification & Activity Center  in the top right corner of the screen. 
• Settings: Settings let you manage your Mylio account. To access the settings menu, click on the View menu  and select Settings .
• Menu bar: Seen on computers along the top of the Mylio window (Windows) or along the top of your computer’s screen (macOS). Additional options to use Mylio can be found in the File, Edit, Organize, Photo, View, Window, and Help drop-down items.
• Navigate Back: Move from a sub-level of Mylio to the level above (for example, from a sub-folder to its parent folder) using the back arrow  in the top left corner of the Mylio interface.
• Actions menu: This menu provides common actions in each view. Access it using the three horizontal dots  in the bottom right of the Mylio interface. 

Photo Data

• Metadata: Data related to your media files. Mylio displays all the information about your media files including non-destructive edits, events, ratings, keywords, GPS data, Faces tagged and more. This information is synced by Mylio to all your connected devices.
• Face tag: A way to identify faces in a photo. To tag faces, click the face tag icon  in the Quick Actions bar. 
• Batch tag: This feature allows you to tag faces in bulk. You can start batch tagging by viewing photos in grid view and clicking the batch facetag icon . 
• Keywords: Mylio lets you add keywords so your Mylio library is easy to search. To manage keywords, select the photo(s) you want, open the Info tab of the Details panel , and type your keywords.
• Geotag: This feature allows you to map where your photos were taken. Mylio does this automatically for photos that have GPS metadata. You can also manually position a photo yourself by dragging it to the correct spot on the map.
• Rating: The Rating bar contains tools to visually tag your photos into different categories so they are easier to find later. The Rating bar  is in the Quick Actions Bar on the right of the Mylio interface.
  • Flags: This will put a flag icon on your photo for reference later. Add a flag by going to the Ratings  tab of the Details panel  and clicking Flag. You can also use the (.) period hotkey.
  • Labels: Labels are another way to classify different types of photos. For example, family photos could be red, travel photos good be green, food photos could be blue, etc. The keyboard shortcuts are 6 = Red, 7 = Yellow, 8 = Green, 9 = Blue, 0 = Purple.
  • Stars: Use the stars to rank 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5-star photos. This is a way to separate your great photos from your good ones. The keyboard shortcuts are 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
• Categories: Categories are an organizational tool you can assign to Events, Folders, and photos, making it easier to search and filter. To add categories, open Mylio on a computer, click the Info tab, scroll down, and click the  sign next to the word Categories.
• Date range: A date range allows you to set a period of time for a photo when you don’t know exactly when it was taken. To set a date range, open the Info tab of the Details panel . Click on the date to open the Adjust Date panel. 
• Annotations: Show information about your photos such as name, caption, date, GPS, and rating. When your screen is in Grid view, access it using the View menu  in the top right of the Mylio interface.
• In Sync: all thumbnails, previews and originals, and all metadata changes required by this device have been synchronized and the green checkmark is shown .
• Connected: the device is currently connected in a way that makes it reachable by Mylio for other devices to sync with.

Tools

• Add New: One of the buttons most commonly found in the Quick Actions bar. The Add New button  is an easy way to add new People, Albums, or Folders depending on your selected view.
• Clipboard: The clipboard lets you temporarily store photos you want to move between folders, albums, or other containers. Begin using the clipboard by dragging a photo to the bottom of the Mylio interface.
• Events: Events are a way to organize photos on your Calendar. To manually create an event, open Calendar view and click the Add New  button in the Info tab of the Details panel . To create events automatically by linking a calendar, follow these instructions. 
• Presets: Presets are saved groups of edits that can be applied to an image or batch of images with a single click. Access them in the Edit tab. You can adjust existing presets by clicking gear icon  and create new ones by clicking “Show More” below the presets list. 
• Undo: While editing, you may sometimes want to “undo” a change. To undo a change, use the keyboard shortcut ctrl+z on computers. To compare before-and-after, click the  icon in the Edit tab. To reset edits, click the “Reset all edits” button. 
• Crop: A way to remove unwanted portions of a photo or straighten its perspective. To crop, open any photo in single photo view and click the crop button  in the Quick Actions bar. 
• Auto-advance: This feature automatically moves to the next image after you rate, flag, label, or tag faces in a photo. Access it in the Details panel  on the right, and then open Ratings , where you can toggle auto-advance on/off.
• Filmstrip: When viewing an image, the Filmstrip lets you view other images in the same folder or album beneath that image. Toggle it on/off in the View menu  when looking at a single photo.
• Chromeless: This desktop-only feature hides all the icons and text in Mylio so you can focus on the pictures. To turn it on/off, go to the View menu above the Mylio interface and select Chromeless. 
• Cache: Mylio’s cache is a temporary holding area for your photos. It can be cleared at any time to free up space on a device. 

Helpful Terms

• RAW: Image files that save the data directly captured by a camera or device sensor. Users with Premium accounts can edit RAW images on any device.
• Lost Original: When Mylio can’t locate an original file, this item is classified as a “Lost Original.” The only way to fix a Lost Original is to delete it in Mylio, then locate the full-sized file outside the app and re-import it.
• NAS: Stands for “network-attached storage,” which is storage connected to a host computer via network protocols. NAS devices typically have a large capacity and redundancy built-in, making them ideal for photo storage. To set up a NAS with Mylio, click here.
• Peer-to-peer: The ability for each computer, phone and tablet on a Mylio account to communicate directly with one another, sharing private access to files and catalog information without the need for a central server.
• Undated: A photo without a date. Mylio places this photo at the beginning of your calendar in a container called “Undated.” To add a date, click on that container and open the Details panel  to the Info tab. Click on the word “undated” to add a date or date range.
• Unprotected media: In some circumstances, Mylio may display images as unprotected in the Dashboard or Sync tab. This means the images are not on all devices that have a sync policy to want them. If that is the case, follow these instructions.
• Unsupported media: Mylio supports a wide range of file types including photos, documents, PDFs, videos, and more. We’re constantly working to expand the types of files that can be imported to Mylio. For information on unsupported file types and RAW camera support list, see this article.

• Actions menu: This menu provides common actions in each view. Access it using the three horizontal dots  in the bottom right of the Mylio interface.
• Activity: This section keeps track of ongoing processes like scanning, importing, and exporting. Access it in the Notifications & Activity Center  in the top right of the Mylio interface.
• Add New: One of the buttons most commonly found in the Quick Actions bar. The Add New button  is an easy way to add new People, Albums, or Folders depending on your selected view.
• All Photos: This is the first view in the navigation bar and shows – surprise, surprise – all your photos.
• Annotations: Show information about your photos such as name, caption, date, GPS, and rating. When your screen is in Grid view, access it using the View menu  in the top right of the Mylio interface.
• Auto-advance: This feature automatically moves to the next image after you rate, flag, label, or tag faces in a photo. Access it in the Details panel  on the right, and then open Ratings , where you can toggle auto-advance on/off.
• Albums: Albums are a Mylio specific way to organize your photos that are only seen in the application. While every image must be in a folder, Albums give you the freedom to organize any way you want. Photos can be in multiple Albums or none at all.
• Album view: This is where you can create and view custom albums. Albums are a secondary way to group and organize photos. Access it in the Navigation bar at the top of the Mylio interface.
• Batch tag: This feature allows you to tag faces in bulk. You can start batch tagging by viewing photos in grid view and clicking the batch facetag icon . 
• Cache: Mylio’s cache is a temporary holding area for your photos. It can be cleared at any time to free up space on a device. 
• Calendar view: Mylio’s default view which displays your photos on a calendar in combination with events from your life. Access it in the Navigation bar at the top of the Mylio interface.  
• Categories: Categories are another organizational tool you can assign to Events, Folders, and photos, making it easier to search and filter. To add categories, open Mylio on a computer, click the Info tab, scroll down, and click the  sign next to the word Categories.
• Chromeless: This desktop-only feature hides all the icons and text in Mylio so you can focus on the pictures. To turn it on/off, go to the View menu above the Mylio interface and select Chromeless.

• Details panel: This panel allows you to access the Info, Edit, and Map tabs. You can show and hide the Details panel by clicking the double arrow icon  in the top right of the Mylio interface.
• Device: This term refers to any hardware for viewing or storing your Mylio library, including computers, phones, tablets, clouds, and drives.
• Edit tab: The Edit tab lets you edit photos, including presets, red-eye reduction, sliders, and more. Access it by opening the Details panel  and clicking Edit.
• Event: An event is a way to organize photos from a specified time period on your Calendar. You can create events manually in Calendar view or automatically by linking a calendar. 
• Export: This feature allows you to export images that are part of your Mylio library. Select the image, folder, or album you want to export, then click the share icon  from the Quick Actions bar, and choose Export.
• Face tag: A way to identify faces in a photo. To tag faces, click the face tag icon  in the Quick Actions bar. 
• Filmstrip: When viewing an image, the Filmstrip lets you view other images in the same folder or album beneath that image. Toggle it on/off in the View menu  when looking at a single photo.
• Filter: Filtering is a way to set criteria in Mylio that narrows which photos are displayed in any view. Access it by clicking the funnel icon  in the top left corner of the Mylio interface.
• Flag: A way to mark a photo to categorize, organize, or prioritize it. Add a flag by going to the Ratings  tab of the Details panel  and clicking Flag. You can also use the period hotkey. 
• Folders: Folders are one of the main ways to organize in Mylio. Folders allow you to directly manage your files inside and outside of Mylio. To create a new folder, go to Folders view and click the Add New  button.
• Folder view: Folder view shows how your files are organized. This includes the Mylio Pictures folder and any source folders you decide to add. Access it in the Navigation bar. 
• Geotag: This feature allows you to map where your photos were taken. Mylio does this automatically for photos that have GPS metadata. You can also manually position a photo yourself by dragging it to the correct spot on the map.
• Grid view: This refers to anytime multiple photos are displayed in a grid in the Mylio interface.
• Grid style: This feature allows you to change how your photos are displayed in Mylio. Access it using the View menu  in the top right, and click on Grid Style. From there you can choose between square, tile, and fluid. 
• Import: Importing adds photos to your Mylio library. There are multiple ways to import. One of the most common is to use the Import button  in the top right. Choose whether to Copy photos (from your current device) or import photos from other sources. For other ways to import, see these articles.
• Info tab: The Info tab lets you view and manage information about your photos. This includes the title, captions, date, keywords, categories, location, and other metadata. Access it by going to the Details panel  on the right and clicking Info.
• Keywords: Mylio lets you add keywords so your Mylio library is easy to search. To manage keywords, select the photo(s) you want, open the Info tab of the Details panel , and type your keywords.
• Labels: Labels are a way to classify different types of photos by color-coordinating them. The keyboard shortcuts are 6 = Red, 7 = Yellow, 8 = Green, 9 = Blue, 0 = Purple. 
• Library (See “Mylio Library”)
• Life Calendar: The Life Calendar displays your photos on a calendar in combination with events from your life. View photos by day, month, year, or decade. Add events by clicking manually or by linking a digital calendar.  
• Lost Original: When Mylio can’t locate an original file, this item is classified as a “Lost Original.” The only way to fix a Lost Original is to delete it in Mylio, then locate the full-sized file outside the app and re-import it.
• Map tab: The Map tab is a section of the Details panel that allows you to place photos on the map. To access it, open the Details panel  and select Map. Then drag your selected photo(s) where they were taken.
• Map view: The Map view organizes photos by location on a world map. Mylio does this automatically for photos that have GPS metadata. You can also manually position a photo by dragging it to the correct spot on the map.
• Menu bar: Seen on computers along the top of the Mylio window (Windows) or along the top of your computer’s screen (macOS). Additional options to use Mylio can be found in the File, Edit, Organize, Photo, View, Window, and Help drop-down items.
• Metadata: Data related to your media files. Mylio displays all the information about your media files including non-destructive edits, events, ratings, keywords, GPS data, Faces tagged and more. This information is synced by Mylio to all your connected devices.
• Mylio Library: The sum total of all your media, organization, edits and other metadata that is viewable from your connected devices in Mylio.
• NAS: Stands for “network-attached storage,” which is storage connected to a host computer via network protocols. NAS devices typically have a large capacity and redundancy built-in, making them ideal for photo storage. To set up a NAS with Mylio, click here.
• Navigate Back: Move from a sub-level of Mylio to the level above (for example, from a sub-folder to its parent folder) using the back arrow  in the top left corner of the Mylio interface.
• Notifications: Notifications let you know important information about your Mylio setup. To access notifications, click on the Notification & Activity Center  in the top right corner of the screen.  
• Original: Your full quality file at its original size. Originals are fully editable. 
• Peer-to-peer: The ability for each computer, phone and tablet on a Mylio account to communicate directly with one another, sharing private access to files and catalog information without the need for a central server.
• People view: People view helps you automatically organize photos of family and friends. As you start tagging the people in your photos, Mylio will help you tag them in all future photos and display them in a container.
• Photo sizes:
  • Thumbnail: A small version of your photo (20kb to 30kb) that is ideal for mobile devices since it doesn’t take up much storage space. Does not allow editing. 
  • Preview: Highquality (approximately 1mb) that gives an accurate representation of your photos at a fraction of the space. Ideal for laptops or any device with sufficient storage. Fully editable. 
  • Original: Your full quality file (original size)  in its native format, including RAW files. Fully editable. 
• Presets: Presets are saved groups of edits that can be applied to an image or batch of images with a single click. Access them in the Edit tab. You can adjust existing presets by clicking gear icon  and create new ones by clicking “Show More” below the presets list. 
• Preview: Medium quality image (approximately 1mb) that gives an accurate representation of your photos at a fraction of the space. Ideal for laptops. Fully editable. 
• Protection: Mylio protects your Mylio library by helping you create Vaults, which are additional storage for original files and catalog information. This protection allows you to recover your Mylio library and media files in the event that one of your devices is damaged or lost.
• Quick Actions bar: A section of Mylio that changes dynamically with icons for quick actions a user can take like cropping, export, tagging, deleting, etc. The contents of the Quick Actions bar change based on the selected view.
• Rating: The Rating bar contains tools to visually tag your photos into different categories so they are easier to find later. The Rating bar  is in the Quick Actions Bar on the right of the Mylio interface.

• Search bar: The search menu allows you to strategically search for photos by typing in keywords. Access it by clicking the search magnifying glass  in the top left corner of the Mylio interface.
• Settings: Settings let you manage your Mylio account. To access the settings menu, click on the View menu  and select Settings .
• Single Photo view: When you view one photo at a time in the Mylio interface.
• Source folder: A source is an active folder that Mylio monitors for changes. If you add a source folder, Mylio watches it in your file system without moving it from its original location. If you add photos to a Source Folder using your filesystem, the Mylio app will automatically import the new additions.
• Stars: Use the stars to rank 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5-star photos. This is a way to separate your great photos from your good ones. The keyboard shortcuts are 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
• Sync: Mylio keeps all your devices up-to-date with the same photos, information, and organization. Syncing ensures that new photos added to one device are available on your other devices along with edits, metadata, and organizational structure.
  • In Sync: all thumbnails, previews and originals, and all metadata changes required by this device have been synchronized and the green checkmark is shown .
  • Connected: the device is currently connected in a way that makes it reachable by Mylio.
• Tag: “Tag” means adding information to photos in Mylio. The three main uses are:
  • Batch Tag: Adding information to multiple photos at the same time (in batches).
  • Face Tag: Identifying the faces of people in your photos. Mylio will automatically create a container for each person you tag and will help you identify that person in all future photos.
  • Geotag: Identifying where a photo was taken. Mylio will automatically include it on the Map.

• Vault: A Vault is Mylio’s term for a device that holds all your originals. Common Vaults include computers, external drives, NAS devices, and online services like Amazon or Google Drive. Click here to add a NAS or USB vault, or here to add Amazon and Google Drive.
• View menu: The View menu allows you to adjust how your photos look in Mylio. To access it, click the View menu icon  in the top right corner of the Mylio interface.

Encrypted OneDrive protection uploads your files as “other files” and not “photos”, which means you will see a series of “.bin” files in your OneDrive. These are your encrypted files.

Mylio protects your images in the cloud with AES 256bit encryption. Only your Mylio account can be used to unencrypt these images.

1. Open Mylio on a computer or mobile device and open the Dashboard.

2. Select the plus sign in the top right of the Devices section of the Dashboard.

3. Select OneDrive.

4. Mylio will display the Add Cloud Storage options. Here, you can decide if you wish to upload your files as encrypted or unencrypted. Once decided, select Add OneDrive at the bottom of this window.

5. Sign in to the Microsoft account that you wish to protect your files to.

6. Once signed in, Mylio will display OneDrive within the Dashboard as a Vault.

1. Open and sign in to the Mylio account previously associated with OneDrive.
2. Open the Dashboard and ensure OneDrive is listed as a Vault.
3. Mylio will automatically begin to download your Mylio catalog and library to the new device.
     Note:  this process may take time. To speed up syncing connect to another device via a peer-to-peer connection that has your Mylio Library.

If you wish to unregister OneDrive as a location that Mylio can sync to, you can do so from the service’s device preferences. By unregistering OneDrive, you will prevent Mylio from protecting any new media to OneDrive. Media currently on OneDrive will not be removed from the service.

1. Open Mylio’s Dashboard and navigate to the Devices section.
2. Select OneDrive and open the Device Settings menu.
3. Select Unregister Device.
4. Confirm that you would like to unregister the device by typing in your Mylio password.

Mylio makes importing your entire Apple Photos library into Mylio easy. With macOS Catalina (10.15) and newer, Mylio’s Photos import tool will watch over your original images to keep the two libraries in sync with one another.

This process will not copy your photos from Apple Photos to Mylio. For this reason, Mylio has a unique relationship with your Apple Photos library in order to ensure your photos are safe inside and outside of your Mylio Library. In general, Mylio has read-only access to your Apple Photos library. Here are the guidelines for how Mylio and Apple Photos communicate:

• When importing your photos, Mylio references the original images. It does not duplicate the image.
• When importing, Mylio will make a Mylio-specific Thumbnail or Preview, depending on your setup.
• If a photo is deleted from Apple Photos before Mylio is opened, the photo will not be imported.
• If a photo imported from Apple Photos is deleted in Mylio, it will not be deleted in the Apple Photos library but will be deleted from within Mylio on all devices on the account.
• If a photo is deleted from Apple Photos after being imported to Mylio but before the Original has synced to another device, only the Mylio-specific Thumbnail or Preview will remain and creates what Mylio calls a Lost Original.
• Photo and Video Metadata brought into Mylio:
  • Title
  • Description
  • Image Date / Time Zone
  • Favorite or Rating (Favorite = 4 stars in Mylio)
  • Flag
  • Color Label
  • Orientation
  • Latitude/Longitude
  • Keywords
• Live Photos are properly synced and displayed
• Portrait mode photos are properly synced and displayed
• Video effects like Timelapse and Slow-mo are synced and playable in Mylio as long as the videos are stored locally (either in the Photos app or the local Mylio folder).
• Changes made within Photos post-import will be reflected in Mylio automatically. This includes edits.

Import Your Photos Library

1. Be sure the Photos application is closed.
2. Open Mylio and select the Import icon from the top right corner of Mylio.
3. Within the Import menu select Aperture / Photos.
   

4. Mylio will search for your Photos library automatically. If Your Photos library is not found, select Other Library… and show Mylio where it is.
   
     Note:  Mylio can only import the System Photo Library on your Mac. If you do not see your Apple Photos library here or have multiple Photos libraries to import, see the  “Granting Mylio access to Apple Photos” tab on this page
5. Select your Photos Library and click Continue in the bottom right.
6. Once the information has been confirmed, select Start Import to begin the Photos import.
   
   
7. Mylio will automatically begin to import your Photos library inside a top-level folder named “Apple Photos”. Inside “Apple Photos” will be a folder named after your Photos library.
8. Once completed, Mylio will display a blue information bar that says “Library Import Completed” and you can close the information window by clicking the “x” in the corner.

This guide will walk you through importing a selection of photos or albums from Apple’s Photos. Additionally, you may want to export images using this method if your Mac is not running macOS Catalina or later or if you have more than one Apple Photos library to import.

The first step of moving from Photos to Mylio is to copy your files out of Photos. Note that you are copying photos, so you must have storage space on your machine for these photos.

1. Open Photos on your Mac.
2. Select All Photos in the top navigation bar of Photos.
3. In this view, you should be able to select an individual photo by clicking on it one time. The photo should outline it blue.
4. Navigate to Edit > Select All to select all images in your Photos library.
5. With all images outlined in blue, navigate to File > Export.
   
   You will be given two options…
   
   

Exporting all Photos
Exporting all photos allows you to export your photos and it will include your edits directly in the photo. You will not be able to remove your edits.

When exporting all photos if you are unsure of settings, these offer high-quality versions of your photos.

• Photo Kind: JPEG
• JPEG Quality: Maximum
• Color Profile: Original
• Size: Full Size
• Include: Both
• File Name: Use File Name
• Subfolder Format: Moment Name

Exporting Unmodified Originals
Exporting unmodified originals exports all of your photos without any edits that you have made applied to them.

When exporting unmodified originals, use these settings:

• Export Original: Export IPTC as XMP
• File Naming: Use File Name
• Subfolder Format: Moment Name

6. Once completed, select Export. You will be asked where you would like to save your photos.

7. Locate the Mylio Library (in your home folder by default) and select to export your photos into the Mylio Pictures folder.

8. Open Mylio, the photos will be imported automatically.

The first step of moving your albums from Photos to Mylio is to copy your files out of Photos. Note that you are copying photos, so you must have storage on your machine for these photos. If you have already exported all photos to Mylio this will create additional copies of your already exported images.

1. Open Photos on your Mac.
2. Select the album(s) that you wish to import into Mylio from the left side of Photos.
   
3. With the album open, navigate to the Edit > Select All.
4. Navigate to File > Export. You will be given two options:

7. Locate the Mylio Library (in your home folder by default) and select to export your photos into the Mylio Pictures folder.

8. Open Mylio, the photos will be imported automatically.

If you are having issues importing your Apple Photos library, the Photos Library currently in use by the Photos app may not be set as the “System Photo Library”. Mylio can only access one “System Photo Library” so make sure that the library you want to use in Mylio is set as the “System Photo Library”.

This can be set in the preferences for Photos. In the top Menu bar of macOS, select Photos->Preferences. In the General tab you will see the “Use as System Photo Library” button.

If the Use as System Photo Library button is not greyed out, then you will need to click that button to make that library the System Photo Library.

Another possible cause that can prevent you from importing to Mylio is that Mylio has not been given permission to access the Photos Library. This needs to be resolved via the macOS System Preferences App. Once System Preferences is opened, select Security & Privacy->Photos and make sure there is a checkmark next to Mylio.

To change the Map view style:

1. While in Map view, select the View menu (three vertical dots in the top-right)
2. Select “Map Style”
3. Choose between the options for your personal preference.

This View menu option changes the Map style in Map view as well as the Map tab in the Info panel while in other views.

To open Mylio’s Map view, select Map from the View Selector. If you have photos that contain GPS data, they will appear as pins on the map automatically.

Mylio will collect your images into pins based off of the proximity that they were taken. You can zoom into the map using a pinch-in and pinch-out technique on touchscreens and trackpads, or use the plus and minus signs in the bottom right corner of the map to zoom in and out. As you zoom in, Mylio separates your photos into more defined pins, allowing you to better see where each set of photos was taken. Please see the example below of Map view at different zoom levels:

Once you have found a set of photos that you wish to view, select the pin by clicking or tapping on it to view the photos taken in that area.

Searching for Photos

In addition to browsing photos by manipulating the Map view, you can also utilize Mylio’s search from within Map view to find a specific location. For instance, you can type “Bermuda” in Mylio’s search bar to automatically be taken to the island of Bermuda and shown the images taken there.

Alternatively, you can search for a specific address or landmark in the Map view’s search to be taken to that location as well.

If your photos do not currently have GPS data, you can add GPS data to them in Mylio.

1. Locate the image that you wish to add GPS data to. You can locate them using All Photos view, Folder view, Album view, People view, or Calendar view.
   
     Note:  these steps must be completed in grid view (multiple photos being seen). GPS data cannot be manipulated in single-photo view.
2. Open the Map section of the Details panel.                                                                                                           
3. Select the image or set of images so that they are outlined in blue. You can select multiple images by holding the Command key (Mac) or Control key (Windows) while clicking multiple images.
4. Move the map in the Map panel to the general location you want the photos to be tagged at by clicking and dragging or tapping and dragging the map. You can zoom in and out of the map with the plus and minus sign at the bottom right of the Map panel. If needed, you can make the Map panel larger or smaller by selecting the arrow at the left center of the Map panel.
5. Once you have a location chosen, drag the selected photos out of Mylio’s center panel and into the Map panel. A green plus sign will appear in the Map panel, showing that you are pinning the images to this location.
6. Drop the images where you would like them to be tagged. You can fine-tune this later if needed.
7. Mylio will create a pin containing your images that can now be moved and fine-tuned by dragging it.
8. Once you are ready to confirm the location of the pin, select the green check mark in the top left. If you would like to cancel, select the red X at the top right.

If your photos include incorrect GPS data, you can change it within Mylio’s Map view or from the image (or set of images) themselves.

Changing Incorrect GPS Data from Image view

1. Open an image in Mylio or find a group of images in grid view that have incorrect GPS data.
2. Open the Map section of the Details panel.
   
3. Select the image or set of images so that they are outlined in blue. You can select multiple images by holding the Command key (Mac) or Control key (Windows) while clicking multiple images.
4. Mylio will display the current GPS location for the selected images in the Map panel. If no specific location is shown, the photos may not currently have readable GPS data (you can proceed with the following steps to add location data if desired).
5. Move the map to the general location you want the photos to be tagged by clicking and dragging or tapping and dragging the map. You can zoom the map with the plus and minus sign at the bottom right of the Map panel. If needed, you can make the Map panel larger or smaller by selecting the arrow at the left center of the Map panel.
6. Once you have a location chosen, drag the selected photos out of Mylio’s center panel and into the Map panel. A green plus sign will appear in the Map panel, showing that you are adding the images to this location.
7. Drop the images where you would like them to be tagged. You can fine-tune this later if needed.
8. Mylio will alert you that you are editing the locations for your selected media. Select Move to confirm.

Changing Incorrect GPS Data from Map view

1. Open Map view by selecting Map from the View Selector.
2. Locate the pin of images that have incorrect GPS data. Do not open the pin by selecting it, stay in Map view.
3. Click/tap and hold on the pin you wish to change the location of.
4. Select Edit location for X media
5. Drag the pin to the correct location. You can drag outside of your current view by approaching the edge, or zoom out (and back in, later) to move far away from the current location.
6. Select the green check mark at the top left of the pin to confirm the new GPS data, or select the red X in the top right to cancel.

In some cases, you may want to completely remove the location data for a photo or set of photos. Mylio can help with this.

Remove GPS Data from Image View

1. Open Mylio and navigate to the photo or set of photos that you wish to remove the GPS data from.
2. Open the Map section of the Details panel.
3. Select the image or set of images so that they are outlined in blue. You can select multiple images by holding the Command key (Mac) or Control key (Windows) while clicking multiple images.
4. With the images selected, the Map section of the Details panel will display the selected image’s pin in blue.
5. Manipulate the zoom level of the map by using the plus and minus sign in the bottom right of the Map section of the Details panel to ensure the pin you want to remove GPS data from does not contain too many, or not enough, images.
6. Right-click on the pin (or Option+click on Mac) to open a dialog that allows you to remove the GPS data for the selected pin.
7. Select “Remove GPS from X selected media” to remove the GPS data.

Remove GPS Data from Map View

1. Open Mylio and navigate to Map view by selecting Map in the View Selector.
2. On the map, locate the pin you wish to remove the GPS data from.
3. Manipulate the zoom level of the map by using the plus and minus sign in the bottom right of the Map section of the Details panel to ensure the pin you want to remove GPS data from does not contain too many, or not enough, images.
4. Tap to hold or Right-click on the pin (or Option+click on Mac) to open a dialog that allows you to remove the GPS data for the selected pin.
5. Select “Remove GPS from X selected media” to remove the GPS data.

1. Launch Mylio and select open the View Menu (three vertical dots in the top-right)
2. Select Settings
3. Select Source Folders
   
4. Mylio will open a new window that allows you to build your Mylio Library. By default, Mylio will display your machine’s Pictures and Movies folders, as well as the default Mylio Pictures folder.
5. To add folders, simply select the Add More Folders button at the bottom of this panel and select the folders you would like Mylio to display.
6. Any folder selected will be added to your Source Folders window and can be toggled on and off. The selected folders will be displayed within Mylio as top-level folders, next to the Mylio Pictures folder.

1. Open Mylio and select Settings in the View menu.
2. Select Source Folders.
3. Mylio will display all of the folders that are part of your Mylio Library. To remove them, simply toggle the folder off.
   
4. The folder will remain in the Source Folders settings to be easily toggled back on until you leave the settings window. Once you have left, the folder will no longer be listed.

Welcome to Mylio – the new home for all of your photos, videos and documents. This guide will teach you the basics of Mylio and walk you through the first five steps in getting your files imported, protected and synced across all of your devices.

On a computer, visit mylio.com/get-app to create an account and download Mylio. Be sure to check your computer’s Downloads folder to launch the Mylio installer. On your mobile device(s), download Mylio from the iOS App Store or Android Play Store. Using your Mylio newly created account email and password, sign in to Mylio to sync your pictures, videos, and documents across all the devices you want.

Mylio uses a Wi-Fi network to move your photos between your devices. In order for your photos to sync across all of your devices, they must meet three criteria:

• All devices signed in to the same Mylio account.
• All devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
• All devices have Mylio running at the same time.

Mylio syncs with your calendar app to automatically organize your images across your devices. When first setting up Mylio you’ll be asked if you would like to import your calendar, doing so will create your Life Calendar – a unique view that couples your photos with your calendar events to show you the visual story of your life.

You can add a variety of file types to your Mylio Library including photos, videos, and documents. These files can originate from many different sources, bringing all of your files together in one library that syncs across all your devices.

Mylio’s setup wizard will help you with your first import. Additional imports can be made by selecting the import button at the top right of Mylio. Mylio’s import options include:

• This Computer: Mylio will add a folder on your computer to your Mylio Library without moving it from its original location. This is also known as adding a Source Folder.
• External Drive: Copy or add folders from the external drive to your Mylio Library without moving them from their original location.
• Online Services: Mylio can import from a variety of online services such as Facebook, Flickr, Google Photos and Picasa.
• Apple Photos, iPhoto and Aperture: Copy the information out of your Photos, iPhoto or Aperture library directly into your Mylio Library.
• Copy: Copy files from assorted locations on your computer directly into Mylio.
• SD Card: Easily import all of the images on your SD card into Mylio.
• Source Folders: Add folders to your Mylio Library without moving them from their original location using the Add Source folders option in Mylio’s Settings.

Protecting your memories is an integral part of Mylio. Files imported into Mylio can be automatically protected to Vaults for safe keeping. Vaults are devices designated to hold all of your original files in Mylio.

External drives, NAS devices, and online services like Amazon or Google drive make great Vaults.

To add a Vault, open the Mylio Dashboard and select the plus sign at the top right corner of the Devices section. Here, you can choose your desired Vault type. All files within Mylio will sync to the Vault in full, original quality for safe keeping.

1. Select the images you wish to export. You can also select a folder or album if you wish to export all enclosed items.
2. Select the Share icon in the Quick Actions Bar.
3. From the Share menu, select Export.
4. The export dialog will allow you to change your export settings, including resolution, metadata, quality, and auto-renaming files. To export an original copy, select:
   1. File Type: JPEG, PNG, or TIFF
   2. Resolution – Original
   3. Quality – Maximum
        Note:  Original files must be synced locally to the device you are exporting from for Actual Resolution and Maximum Quality. All edits that have been made to the image will become part of the exported images. Once these options are set, select Export.
5. Select the destination that you would like the images exported to. If you would like them in a new folder, you can do so with the New Folder option in the bottom left. Once completed, select Open.
   

1. From the Share menu, select Export.
2. The export dialog will allow you to change your export settings, including resolution, metadata, quality, and auto-renaming files. To export an original copy, select:
   
   File Type: Unmodified Original
     Note:  Original files must be synced locally to the device you are exporting from for Actual Resolution and Maximum Quality. No edits that have been made to the image in Mylio will be exported.
3. Select the destination that you would like the images exported to. If you would like them in a new folder, you can do so with the New Folder option in the bottom left. Once completed, select Open.

When exporting an image, Mylio will display all possible choices but gray out the ones that aren’t available. When that happens, Mylio will indicate that some resolutions are not available.

Some possible reasons why a resolution is not available could be:

1. The required file (Original and possibly Preview) is not on the computer you are exporting from.
   • To fix this, connect your computer with another device on your account that has the Original, Right-click on the photo before exporting and use the “Download: Originals or previews” option to bring the file to the machine.
2. The original file is smaller than Mylio’s available (Small, Medium, Large) options.
   • No fix for this other than to export at the maximum resolution possible.
3. The Original is not viewable on the machine. This is most commonly seen when a HEIC file is being exported on a Windows computer and the export file type is not set to “Unmodified Original”. Some high-efficiency format phototypes are not natively able to be rendered on Windows. Mylio can’t create a JPG, PNG, or TIFF with the original. What will be available instead is Preview quality resolution and lower assuming the preview is downloaded locally.
   • For HEIC photos on Windows, you may need to install additional software or codecs. Alternatively, you may need to export from another device (macOS, iOS, Android) if available.
