Mylio has powerful tools to help you keep your photos’ metadata correct and up to date. Mylio has two different ways to alter a photos capture date. Both options are chosen from Mylio’s Adjust Date and Time dialog:
- Open Mylio and select the photo you wish to alter the date of.
- Open the Info section of the Details panel.
- Mylio will display the capture time and date that the selected photo is set to. Select this to bring up the Adjust Date and Time dialog.
There are a few ways to adjust the time and date of a photo or set of photos:
- Shift Time and Date – A range of photos can have their time and date shift by a set amount of time. This means photos keep the same chronological time, but the start and end date of the event move. This is commonly used to offset time zone issues. Example: move all selected photos two hours into the future. More than 1 photo needs to be selected before opeing the Adjust Date/Time window to view the Shift Dates option.
- Set Time and Date – Set all selected photos to a specific time and date. Example: set all selected photos to 2:00pm
- Date Range – Set the date of your selection to an estimated range of dates. Example: set all selected photos from Jan 1, 2019-Dec 31, 2019 (photo was taken sometime in 2019). See here to learn more about setting Fuzzy Dates with the Date Range option.
- Undated – Removes any date/time metadata from the catalog.
Shift Time and Date
Shifting a photo’s time and date allows you to adjust a set of photos by a certain amount of time. For instance, if you have a set of photos that were taken with your camera’s time set incorrectly, you can shift the entire set of photos by X amount of time. This is done by following these steps:
- Select the set of photos you wish to adjust the time and date of.
- Set the correct time and date by using the Adjust Date and Time dialog. Month and year can be changed at the top. The date can be chosen by clicking on the desired date. Time can be altered at the top of the window. Note: sometimes using a keyboard may be faster than using the date picker. In these instances, click on and type in a full date in the year field and Mylio will adjust the date picker for you. Date should be formatted as: YYYY/MM/DD or YY/M/D
- Once confirmed, select Shift to adjust the time and date for all selected photos.
Set Time and Date
Selecting a photo or set of photos times tells Mylio that your images were taken at a specific time and date. This means all photos will be set to the exact same time and date. This is done by following these steps:
